Provincial Low-Back Pain Strategy
As part of the Excellent Care for All Strategy, the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MOHLTC) has funded a provincial initiative on Low-Back Pain. This strategy aims to enhance patient care, improve wait times and reduce inappropriate diagnostic utilization.
There are three pieces of information that are important to primary care providers:
1. Low Back Pain Webpage
2. New Ministry Info Bulletin - providing further clarificaiton on the amendments to the schedule of benefits
3. Launch of Pilot Project in Hamilton, Toronto and Thunder Bay. The inter-professional assessment and education clinic (ISAEC) project will provide rapid assessment and patient education for non-acute low back pain patients. Recruitment of family physicians and nurse practitioners is underway! If you are interested complete the expression of interest form at www.isaec.org
The Centre for Effective Practice has been engaged by MOHLTC to support this strategy. The Strategy aims to engage primary care providers (PCP's) and provide low-back pain clinical tools for their practice needs. As we move forward with the strategy and develop these tools we would like to obtain input from the target audiece (PCP's) to ensure that the strategy/tools meet the needs of providers. If you are interested in providing input, please contact us at [email protected] and we will be sure to get in touch with you.
