The Genetics Education Project

Educational Modules and Practice Tools available from The Centre for Effective Practice.

The goals of the Genetics Education Project (GEP) were to facilitate the delivery of genetics services by primary care providers and to develop effective models for genetics education. These goals were achieved through the development of various education modules, practice tools and PowerPoint modules with referenced speaker’s notes. We wanted to provide practical, current information about screening and prevention of hereditary disorders.

GEP was funded by a grant from the Ontario Women’s Health Council from July 2004 to August 2007. Dr. June Carroll is the Principal Investigator and the project team consisted of a multidisciplinary group of family physicians, genetic counsellors, medical geneticists, laboratory geneticists, nurses, psychologists and epidemiologists.
