The Centre for Effective Practice (CEP) hosted a training workshop on Academic Detailing for healthcare professionals interested in developing the basic skills of delivering one-on-one visits with providers on evidence-informed, clinical decision-making. Learning Objectives: This basic training workshop equips participants with:
- A deep understanding of Academic Detailing as an effective behaviour change intervention;
- The skills and confidence to deliver one-on-one educational sessions on evidence-informed, clinical decision-making to providers;
- Enhanced persuasive communication skills;
- The ability to assess and understand providers’ personal needs, motivations for practice and ways to overcome barriers to change; and,
- The capacity to identify and evaluate clinical evidence and materials/resources for use in Academic Detailing visits.
Workshop Format: The training workshop incorporates a balance of large group presentations and interactive discussions with smaller group breakout sessions. Role plays of Academic Detailing components are a key part of the workshop.
