Our academic detailing team is on the road for conference season. The team is exhibiting at the Ontario Long-Term Care Clinicians Conference on Oct. 21 to 22, and will present at National Resource Center for Academic Detailing’s (NaRCAD) International Conference on Academic Detailing in Boston on Nov. 14 and 15, 2016.
At the Ontario Long-Term Care Clinicians Conference, visitors dropped by our booth at OLTCC, got copies of our provider and patient/family/caregiver discussion guides and tools, and got to know some of our academic detailers. We also presented a poster on “Implementation of an Academic Detailing Service to Optimize Appropriate Prescribing on Antipsychotics for Long-Term Care Residents with Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia.”
Additionally, CEP’s Academic Detailing Service co-directors, Jess Rogers and Loren Regier, along with Terryn Naumann from the British Columbia Ministry of Health Provincial Academic Detailing service, will be presenting a session titled “It’s ALL in the Detailer” at the upcoming fourth International Conference on Academic Detailing hosted by NaRCAD.
The success of academic detailing depends on having detailers that are well trained, given ongoing support, and able to connect and grow as part of a detailing team in spite of often being decentralized geographically. Participants of the NaRCAD session will:
- Gain skills in mentoring around the common challenging areas for academic detailing;
- Discuss how much ‘topic preparation’ is required; and,
- Explore and gain strategies to build teams and overcome a feeling of isolation among detailers.
If you’re at either conference, make sure to drop by and say hello to our academic detailing team!
