Tools to help patients with mental health conditions

We have a line up of mental health tools for primary care providers this year. So far, we’ve launched the Keeping Your Patients Safe Tool and the Management of Chronic Insomnia Tool. This season, we will also launch a Youth Mental Health Tool focused on anxiety and depression.

According to the Mental Health Commission of Canada, one in five Canadians experience a mental health or addiction problem. The Government of Canada also notes that approximately 500,000 young Canadians under the age of 25 don’t have access to basic mental health services.

From provider feedback, we know that primary care providers face a high degree of uncertainty when it comes to identifying and acting on risks associated with signs, symptoms and behaviours suggestive of a mental health condition in adults. We also know that chronic insomnia can impact both daily functioning and quality of life, and that anxiety and depression are two of the most common mental health conditions among Canadian youth. This is why we’ve developed mental health tools based on current evidence and available resources to help providers.

From helping a patient who is lacking sleep, to keeping patients safe, to assisting a young patient suffering from anxiety and/or depression, our mental health tools can help providers better assist their patients in primary care.
